CorVision Training

 

Order Processing Technologies offers CorVision training for 1-4 persons at our Framingham, Massachusetts, USA facility or at your location.

 

Course Title: Beginning CorVision

Duration:

4 days

Prerequisites:

Students should be familiar with programming concepts, at least one procedural software language, familiarity with VMS operating system basics. 

Goals:

To familiarize an application developer who is unfamiliar with CorVision to support and enhance an existing CorVision application. 

Topics:

CorVision specifications: fields, datasets, keys, links, data views.  Screen layout, screen processing, basic screen customizations, and simple report layout. Date and character operations, specifiable end of screen navigation, custom windows.

 

Course Title: Intermediate CorVision

Duration:

4 days

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with CorVision data specifiers, screen painter, and report painter.

Goals:

To enable a CorVision developer to make significant enhancements to existing applications or develop new applications requiring significant customizations or interfaces.

Topics:

Advanced customizations, overriding generated code, coding standards, QUERY,  Builder verbs, array routines, VMS sort, reading sequential files, Internationalization/Localization, HELP files, screen chains & transaction bounding.

 

Course Title: Advanced CorVision Topics

Duration:

4 days

Prerequisites:

Fluency in CorVision development, the VMS environment, and model-based application development.   Significant prior experience developing CorVision applications.

Goals:

To prepare students to accomplish specific tasks which require an in depth understanding of the CorVision runtime system

This course will adapted to requirements of the attendees, and will be taught by a former developer of CorVision software.

Topics:

CorVision internal behaviors, the screen event model, VMS & 3GL calls, and the interaction of the CorVision generated code to the CorVision runtime environment.  CorVision metadata storage and access outside of CorVision.  CorVision and VMS storage representations & potential data migration issues.

 

Order Processing Technologies provides course materials and video projector.  You provide the PCs for training (if at your site), and a CorVision development area to be used during training.  If the training is at our site, we can connect to yours via a fixed IP address, and through a VPN connection or a VPN connection with IPsec.

 

Fees for training at Order Processing Technologies:

$900/day - 1st person
$600/day - 2nd person
$400/day - 3rd person
$300/day - 4th person

Fees for training at other sites are the same, with a $1500 travel surcharge plus travel, meals, and local accommodation expenses.
