Order Processing Technologies had
a problem: Its CorVision-based, 'RollCIM' ERP system
for steel and paper manufacturers looked old-fashioned, support
costs were rising, and CorVision wasn't supported. The
CorVision/VAX/RMS platform
was at end-of-life.
Rewriting the 700 screens and 250,000+ lines of Builder code
using 300+ tables would overwhelm OPT's staff. Validating the rewrite would be an
immense task. The risks
were huge, and orderly changeover almost impossible.
The answer: a
computer-assisted, mechanical conversion. Many of
OPT's developers had been CorVision system developers at
Cortex. Two years and two million dollars later,
the CV2VB conversion process was ready.
